RE:Edge's Movelist

[edit]

Signature moves mean moves you have done often in your career during a match. This is what I was told by higher-ups in WP:PW. Edge does the sleeper in almost all his normal matches, then turns it into a rear naked choke. Sure he hasn't won any matches with it, but you can count the number of people who have won a match with that type of move. "Edge hasn't won a match with, or 'glorified the sleeper'" <--- Has Shelton Benjamin won matches with sleepers? There has been very few wrestlers to win a match with a classic sleeper. Also, if Edge did win many matches with the sleeper, wouldn't it be in the Finishers section as opposed to the Signature moves section? As for crossbody, that is an often move he uses in matches. Not for dive spots. As for you saying Shelton Benjamin uses it for variety of the match and Adam Copeland basically just uses it for a spot, I'm inclined to say that maybe you might be a Edge "hater" and just want to remove some moves from his list. I'm not going to make such a bold accusation though, and just for the record, this was not a personal attack. And finally, I'm still sticking to the changes I made all those months ago to the move list. Now I look forward to hearing what YOU have to say. --  Jลмєs Mลxx™  Msg me  17:59, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand where you are coming from with the sleeper hold and the back drop. Those can be removed off the list. However, rear naked choke is a move not many wrestler's use, and I think it should stay. He may not "glorify" it, but he does use it often. Thing is however, WP:PW views a signature maneuver as a move you've done several times during a career-span. We can't always go by what we personally view a move is. Like you say Orton's high angle boston crab is glorified on TV by JR and King. If WP:PW feels it doesn't qualify (and I think because hes done it several times so far, it does) then it wont be there. I personally feel that the split-legged moonsault that RVD does shouldn't be listed as a finisher, but WP:PW feels it does because it was once used as one in the early 90's, and if it was once a finisher, it is always a finisher. I have to uphold what WP:PW says, and I have fought about it several times with them, but they always win out. The one battle I did win against WP:PW was getting them to change the name of the ECW World Title from ECW World Heavyweight Championship to ECW World Championship. Thanks to an administrator who had stumbled upon the page, they did a vote which wasn't brought to the attention of WP:PW and the page was renamed accordingly. Someone internally said that it should have been brought to the attention of the project page, but the admin said that it would violate WP:SNOW, meaning that it would be rejected immediately and have no chance of being changed. I'm glad the name was changed, because this is what they called it on TV, so they should call it this on Wiki. And back to Edge, do what you feel should be done to the move list. I'll check it out when you're done, and let you know if I have any objections. --  Jลмєs Mลxx™  Msg me  03:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how WP:PW feels about it, but I think it should be there as a finisher. He has used it in several famous spots. One being the one off the ladder to Jeff Hardy. He also did it to Cena in their TLC match back in September. Like you said, he did it to Angle once to win a match (this is what caused an injury for him at the height of his singles success). I think it should be added in as a finisher, and more than likely, it may be downgraded to a signature move. Put it as a finisher though with a small note saying used mainly in specialty matches. --  Jลмєs Mลxx™  Msg me  04:27, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
